Barney Whiter is a senior managing director in the FTI Corporate Finance practice and is based in London. He is a member of the Valuation and Mergers and Acquisitions group and in London. Mr. Whiter has more than 13 years of experience in advising publicly quoted and private companies and government bodies on valuation analysis, mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and fundraising.
Experience
As a valuation specialist, Mr. Whiter has deep experience advising clients on valuation issues, including restructurings; M&A; fairness opinions; shareholder disputes; litigation support (quantum of damages) and accounting (option valuations and purchase price allocations).
Mr. Whiter has advised corporate companies, debt providers and other stakeholders particularly on accelerated M&A where it is important to move quickly to secure a transaction and preserve enterprise value in distressed or restructuring scenarios.
Mr. Whiter also has significant experience of acting as monitoring trustee, both on behalf of the UK Competition Commission and the European Commission Competition Directorate where corporate companies are required to divest businesses in order to gain anti-trust clearance for transactions.
Mr. Whiter’s most notable clients include Royal Bank of Scotland; Barclays; Canary Wharf Group; Corus; Universal Music; KBC Bank; Ford; Friends Provident; Jupiter Asset Management and the European Commission.
Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Mr. Whiter was a partner at Baker Tilly’s Corporate Finance practice in London and before that he worked at KPMG’s Corporate Finance practice in London.
Mr. Whiter holds a B.A. in economics from the University of Nottingham. He is a chartered accountant and member of the Society of Share and Business Valuers. He is also on the expert valuers list of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.
