Carlyn Taylor is a senior managing director in the FTI Consulting Corporate Finance/Restructuring practice and is based in Denver. Ms. Taylor is the national leader of the Communications, Media and Entertainment Solutions group and is the chief executive officer of FTI Capital Advisors, an investment banking subsidiary of FTI Consulting and she is a registered general securities principal with FINRA. She is an expert in financial and business consulting, having led hundreds of engagements in the telecom, media and entertainment industries involving bankruptcy and restructuring, mergers and acquisitions advisory, and strategy/business consulting.

Ms. Taylor has led more than 100 restructuring and bankruptcy engagements, advising debtors and creditors on cases such as Tribune Company; Charter Communications; RH Donnelley; Advanstar; Integra Telecom; Global Crossing; Hawaiian Telcom; Genuity; XO Communications; Williams Communications; Excite@Home; Qwest; MFN; Allegiance Telecom; Teligent; Broadwing; IWO and Level 3 Communications. Her clients also include major financial institutions and funds such as JPMorgan; Bank of America; Wachovia; Citigroup; GE Capital; Goldman Sachs; Morgan Stanley; TD Securities; CIT; HIG Capital; Platinum Equity; MC Ventures and Silverpoint Capital.
Ms. Taylor has provided strategic consulting, corporate and business development, business planning, financial planning and marketing consulting services to a variety of communications and media clients. Clients for these services include Scripps (Newspaper Division); Securus Technologies; T-Mobile; Hawaiian Telcom; Cincinnati Bell; AT&T Wireless; Broadwing; Ericsson; LA Cellular; Integra Telecom; Altrio; XO Communications; HickoryTech and I-Connect.
In the mergers and acquisitions (M&A) area, Ms. Taylor has served as an advisor on all aspects of transactions, including advising buyers and sellers in M&A, providing due diligence on behalf of financing sources and private equity investors, investigating financial synergies of merger transactions, preparing corporate strategies for acquisitions, identifying target companies, and advising on transaction structuring involving both healthy and financially distressed targets.
Ms. Taylor has provided expert witness testimony in litigations, arbitrations and other cases involving lost revenue and profits, valuation, and telecom industry trends. Large engagements include the bondholder litigation objecting to the BCE LBO transaction in Canada; the contested bankruptcy confirmation hearing to reinstate the secured debt in Charter Communications; the minority shareholder litigation objecting to Carl Icahn’s buying the remaining public shares of XO Communications; the bondholder trustee litigation in Excite@Home; and defending Columbia/HCA against a multi-billion claim regarding a worldwide telecom contract.
Ms. Taylor joined FTI Consulting with the acquisition of PricewaterhouseCoopers’ (PwC) BRS group. During her 12 years at PwC, Carlyn founded and led the Telecommunication Industry practice within the Financial Advisory Services group.
Ms. Taylor holds an M.A. and a B.S. in economics from the University of Southern California, where she graduated as the university’s valedictorian. She is a certified public accountant in California and Colorado, accredited in business valuation by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, certified insolvency and restructuring advisor, and has investment banking licenses from FINRA.
