David Morris is a senior managing director in the FTI Corporate Finance practice and is based in London. Mr. Morris has 15 years of experience specializing in complex financial restructuring and advising lenders, investors and executive management teams. He has experience in many sectors, including media; subprime financing; industrial and consumer products; construction and automotive.
Experience
Examples of Mr. Morris’ experience include leading the financial and strategic review of a quoted $400 million global electronic component manufacturer on behalf of the refinancing bank, which resulted in the successful refinancing of $75 million in banking facilities; providing three incumbent banks of a quoted commercial radio business with a financial and strategic review of the group, which led to the refinancing of the group’s £120 million of banking facilities by two of the banks combined with the board making a significant disposal to de-leverage the balance sheet; and advising the senior and mezzanine lenders regarding a sub prime retail finance business with a loan book of £100 million and net debt of £150 million, which resulted in the parties-in-interest being able to partially refinance the banking facilities and secure additional third party funding to support the business’ growth strategy.
In the last five years, Mr. Morris has completed two separate nine month secondments to Barclays Capital and Barclays Business Bank. His major projects whilst on secondment included playing a key part of the team that jointly coordinated the £1.4 billion restructuring of MyTravel, which resulted in the restructuring and conversion of £1 billion of debt to equity. He also led the €500 million syndicate of senior lenders in the financial restructuring of a German based cable TV operator and internet service provider. Mr. Morris’ efforts resulted in full value being returned to the senior lenders from the proceeds of the disposal of the group’s Dutch operations and a partial recovery for the junior debt lenders from a refinancing of core German operations.
Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Mr. Morris was a partner at Ernst & Young, where he had a people leadership role for the Corporate Restructuring practice comprising of 200 professionals. Before that, he worked at Arthur Andersen.
