Gina Gutzeit is a senior managing director in the FTI Consulting Corporate Finance/Restructuring practice and is based in New York. Ms. Gutzeit has more than 25 years of experience in operational and financial restructuring, interim management, merger integration, bankruptcy proceedings, process improvement, forensic analysis and litigation services. Her industry experience includes service providers; healthcare; transportation including airlines; pharmaceutical; utilities; financial services; retail; manufacturers shipping; construction and real estate.

Experience

Over the years, Ms. Gutzeit has held several interim management roles, where she was responsible for the day-to-day operations of accounting, treasury, tax and Sarbanes Oxley compliance; assessing the overall finance department; developing and implementing new policies and procedures; and hiring and training of personnel. In addition, Ms. Gutzeit was responsible for Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) reporting and restatements. She successfully resolved SEC inquiries and avoided delisting by NASDAQ.

Ms. Gutzeit’s interim management experience also includes evaluating and enhancing the global cash management and forecasting system to balance global cash needs; improving monthly financial reporting and forecasting tools; and assessing, recommending and implementing operational improvement strategies. She has worked closely with, and facilitated critical communication among the board members and audit committee chairs, senior management, counsel and independent auditors through these processes.

Ms. Gutzeit has served as financial advisor to numerous companies experiencing financial and operational changes and advised on all aspects of financial restructurings, cash flow management and revenue enhancement programs, as well as provided assistance in preparing financial projections, preparing subsidiaries for disposition negotiations with lenders and creditors, and assessing divestiture and consolidation scenarios and related financial impact. She has assisted numerous debtors in Chapter 11 in creating and implementing procedures for preparation of financial data and claims analysis for the bankruptcy court and the unsecured creditors committees.

Ms. Gutzeit has provided expert accounting assistance in several litigation matters, including reconstruction and analysis of cash receipts, cash disbursements and other financial and non-financial information to determine losses and damages, and preparation for discovery hearings and depositions. She was appointed as examiner by the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in the Southern District of New York and has worked with the FBI on special investigations of companies suspected of embezzling and defrauding lenders.

Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Ms. Gutzeit was a partner within the Financial Advisory Services practice of PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Ms. Gutzeit holds a B.B.A. in public accounting from Pace University. She is a certified public accountant in New York, a certified fraud examiner and a certified insolvency and restructuring advisor. She also serves on the board of directors of the Association of Insolvency and Restructuring Advisors and Richmond University Medical Center.
