Mark has over 20 years’ experience of advising on all aspects of valuing businesses, companies, listed and unlisted securities, intellectual property and intangible assets. He has assisted clients in many contexts: mergers and acquisitions, corporate restructuring, regulatory compliance and corporate governance (including fairness opinions), financial reporting, tax planning, expert determination and dispute resolution.
Experience
He is the chairman of the Valuation Special Interest Group of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales, and a council member of the UK Society of Share and Business Valuers. He has published and presented extensively, in particular on valuation and intellectual property matters, and on the assessment of damages in commercial disputes.
Mark has been appointed extensively as an independent expert under the terms of shareholders’ agreements. He has also acted as an expert witness on numerous occasions in matters before the UK High Court, the Patents Court, Chancery Division, Queens Bench Division, the Restrictive Practices Court, the Royal Court of Jersey, the Family Division, the Special Commissioners for Her Majesty’s Revenue & Customs, the UK Lands Tribunal, the Grand Court of the Cayman Islands, the Supreme Court of the State of New York, the Competition Appeal Tribunal and the Copyright Tribunal, the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce, the Dubai International Arbitration Centre, as well as in LCIA, ICC, UNCITRAL and other arbitration forums, mediations including under the World Intellectual Property Organisation’s jurisdiction and various matters before the European Court and Commission. He has acted in over 100 cases during the course of his career, and has given oral evidence on over 10 occasions.
