Mark Dewar is a senior managing director in the FTI Corporate Finance practice and is based in London. Mr. Dewar has more than 12 years of experience principally advising corporates, private equity investors and junior debt providers involved in stressed or distressed situations. He has been involved in various industries, including financial services, telecommunications, software, retail, engineering, building and construction and automotive.
Experience
Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Mr. Dewar was a director in the London restructuring practice of Ernst & Young, where he led a multitude of assignments. His work included providing advice on complex financial restructurings, preparing and reviewing forecasts, providing cash management and performance improvement services and advising private equity investors who held underperforming or distressed assets. Mr. Dewar’s assignments have included assisting a global mortgage origination business through a liquidity crisis; advising the investors to a distressed U.K. bio-diesel manufacturer; advising the lenders and the board of a listed U.K. retail chain and advising the lender group of a failed global investment bank.
Mr. Dewar also undertook a 15-month secondment to the Leverage Finance team at the Royal Bank of Scotland in London. During this time, he was responsible for maintaining the bank’s relationship with a number of leverage buyout customers, which included playing a large role in the completion of recapitalisation and refinancing transactions. Prior to joining Ernst & Young, Mr. Dewar worked for a FTSE 100 IT Services company and for Credit Suisse First Boston. He commenced his career in Australia, where he worked in the Audit practice of Ernst & Young.
Mr. Dewar holds a B.B. in accounting from Griffith University. He is a chartered accountant and a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Australia.
